About
the Event First, we will start a
little early this year again to accommodate the little ones coming that might
have to leave early. We will do another kiddy hayride around the place starting
at 6pm. Each ride is only about 10 minutes long. We will have the bon-fire going
so they can roast some marshmallows and cook a hotdog or two. Those not coming
for the hay ride, can show up starting around 7pm. We'll
keep the party outside until about 8:30pm or so, or until enough people start
showing up for the costume party. For those not wishing to participate in the
bar activities and craziness, you are welcome to hang out around the bon fire
for as long as you wish. I am sure people will migrate back and forth. We will
have benches and hay bales to sit on, so you might
want to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on to be comfortable. We
are looking for some volunteers to bring some music!!! We need some musical
entertainment either acoustical around the camp fire, or we can plug you in
inside the bar. You don't have to be a pro! If you know anybody, drag them
along! So
here's the deal with the costume party! This year
we are strongly encouraging everyone to wear some kind of costume. What that
means, if you don't show up in some sort of costume, you will be made to
"pay the price"! How much you ask? When you arrive at the costume
party, and if the crowd votes that you are not in costume, you will be
forced to consume some nasty shot we haven't even concocted yet, or for those of
you that do not drink, be made to sing a karaoke song. Which will probably be
chosen for you. The stakes are high, so dress up! Keep in mind, you don't have to spend a
penny on your costume. The home-made ones are usually the best and funniest.
Come dressed as your spouse, as your kids, or as you parents. If all else fails,
you can come in your work uniform/attire. Just over dress it a little. Those
coming just for the bon fire activities need not dress up. Kids are
welcome to the costume party at the bar, just remember it will be mostly
inebriated wild crazy adults acting like kids! Anyone is
welcome to crash here. You might toss your sleeping bag in your car just in
case. If you plan on over doing it, plan on staying! No Drinking & Driving! We will have plenty of floor space, but will probably run out of beds and
couches. Anyone wanting to camp, can come early and pitch their tent. There is a
camping area down by the woods. Anyone coming from out of town that might be
interested in other KC events that weekend, might try these links: http://www.visitkc.com/events/index.aspx
http://www.pitch.com/calendar What's
this all about? Here's the low down! (for those who may not have been to our
Halloween party before) We will
hang outside around the bonfire for a few hours, roasting marshmallows and
hot dogs. The kids usually love cooking with fire and a stick. Sometimes just
making a marshmallow torch is just as much fun. We'll have some bluegrass / country / Halloween music playing around
the farm. I'll be sure to have a sample of some local fresh hot apple
cider, not to mention some cold fella's in the cooler. Maybe a good bottle of
sippin' whiskey hidin' somewhere too. I am sure we could turn up a bottle of
wine if you ask. There'll be plenty of pop and water
available. Around
9pm or so, we'll keep the outside thing going for those that don't care for
the bar thing, but for those that do, we'll open up the Dawg Haus and let the
craziness begin. We'll have plenty of mixed drinks, cold
fella's on ice, Bud Light and Budweiser on tap, and an adult Halloween punch on the bar in
the smokin' witches caldron. We'll crank it up a notch and have the Dj
spin some rock, county
and hit music for everyone to let loose and dance if we don't have any live
entertainment. Once everyone gets
saturated, we can crank up the Karaoke around midnight (have your songs picked
out). There are plenty of games and things to do, and even a poker room in
back if anyone wants too. We might even try to do a Beer Pong Tournament. Everything
else should be fairly similar to past years for those of you that are repeat
party goers. I am sure the other house will be open for babies and mothers
that want to get out of the cool air. The kids will have the whole yard to run
around in if wanted. Dress appropriately; we will have logs and hay bales to
sit on. Perpendicular parking in the grass anywhere along the drive is
fine. Save yourself plenty of room to get out. The outdoor outhouse is
functional to use if you so dare (just so you can say you have used one!), or
there are plenty of trees available for use! Indoor restroom will also be
provided. Remember: You are still
welcome even if your spouse / family can't make it with you. There should be
plenty to do to have a good time. For the many of you that have plans earlier in
the evening, stop in later. The bar doesn't open until 9, and I am sure it won't
get rolling until 11-12am. If in doubt, give me a call on the cell. If anyone has any ideas for games or kid events, let me know.
No one needs to bring anything, but you can if you like. We should have plenty
of snacks and drinks. Or, if you must, just toss a dollar in the tip
jar on the bar to help fund the party. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to get
someone (or 2) to bring some chili. Last year we killed off 3 gallons in no time. In the event of light
rain, we will have tents/shelters set up to keep dry. In the event of heavy rain
or very cold temps., we will be roasting our hotdogs inside in the microwave at
7pm. (It has snowed at some parties) Looking for a couple volunteers.
Possible the Sat. before (Oct 18th) to help decorate the bar. And someone Sat.
afternoon of the party to help setup up table, tents, etc. I always seem to have my hands full trying to do it all. Get with me
anytime from now until the party. Be sure to sign
the guest book after the party. Write about your
experiences from the past, present, or future. Go to my website, www.bodendieck.com
